AGADEZ FLOOD RELIEF DONATION

The rain started gently. I was sheltering on the terrace the internet center with the goats waiting for my ride.

It has been a glorious season of abundant rain luring the people of Agadez to the wadi Telwa to play in the running water.
.
I made it back to my house before the real storm hit. It wasn't as violent as the last big storm a week ago so the news in the morning came as a shock. At one in the morning the waters that had been building in the mountains let loose sweeping away over 4,000 homes and leaving 7,000 families in the streets with nothing but the clothing on their backs.

Yesterday this was a tract of adobe houses.

Yesterday this was a paved street.

Yesterday this was one of the largest travel agencies in Agadez.

The terrible beauty of abundant water in the desert.
This morning I visited the damage with a delegation of ministers who flew in from Niamey. The most remarkable thing about the visit was the good spirit of the people...already working hard to clean up and rebuild. They must be hungry, but they are cheerful, accepting and courageous.
The people of Agadez need us right now. We are working with the Rotary Club of Agadez who have the ability to mobilize right now to distribute food before people start to die of starvation.
PLEASE...THIS IS URGENT...HUNGER IS NOW!
$30 will buy a sack of millet which can feed a family of 6 for a month!
